Stakeholder Mapping
Listing the people who can affect, or are affected by, a product decision and placing them by how much power and how much interest they have. It shows who to keep closely involved, who to keep informed and who to simply watch, so "everyone has an opinion" becomes a plan.
Example: Before a pricing change, a product manager maps eight people. The head of sales has high power and high interest, so gets a weekly conversation. The finance lead has high power but low interest and gets one short briefing. Support has little power but high interest, so sees the plan early because they will take the customer calls. Nobody is surprised at launch.
