Jobs to Be Done (JTBD)
A framework that looks at the progress a customer is trying to make in a given situation, rather than at their demographics or the features they ask for. Customers "hire" a product to get a job done and "fire" it when something does the job better.
Example: People do not buy project management software to have tasks in a list. The job is often "stop being surprised by missed deadlines in front of my boss". A product built around that job focuses on early warnings, not just more ways to organise tasks.
