A Day of Learning, Curiosity, and Community at WordPress Islamabad

In the time when anyone can build tools and products using AI, WordPress community makes WordPress more meaningful. It is not just about technology; it is about people, shared experiences, and collective growth.

The WordPress Islamabad community continues to grow as a space where people come together to learn, share, and support each other. Each meetup adds another layer to this journey, and this one was no different.

We are sincerely thankful to Inter Boards Coordination Commission for hosting the event and making the space available for the community. A special acknowledgment goes to Muhammad Kashif, who set the tone by sharing the vision behind the WordPress Islamabad community and highlighting IBCC’s role in bringing this meetup to life.

I would also like to extend a special thanks to Rana Mansoor Akbar Khan for bringing swags for the attendees. His generosity and continued support for the WordPress community truly add value to these gatherings and uplift the overall experience for everyone involved.

Setting the Stage

We began with attendee introductions and a simple ice-breaker that quickly turned a room full of individuals into a connected group. Participants joined us from Islamabad and Rawalpindi, along with attendees who traveled from Wah, Taxila, Swabi, and even Multan.

The diversity in experience stood out; from seasoned professionals with decades in the industry to students and beginners navigating their paths in an AI-driven world where uncertainty often feels greater than opportunity.

Talk 1: Is WordPress Dead?

The first session challenged a common question: Is WordPress Dead?

Muneeb Khan explored the evolving WordPress ecosystem and its intersection with Artificial Intelligence. The discussion highlighted how WordPress continues to remain relevant when combined with modern technologies to build impactful digital solutions.

A key takeaway was the evolving responsibility of developers. In an AI-powered landscape, the focus is shifting more toward stability, scalability, and security; areas where human judgment and experience still play a critical role.

Talk 2: Exploring WordPress Playground

We were fortunate to have Maryam Sultana lead the second session on WordPress Playground.

She demonstrated how developers & quality assurance teams can automate workflows and validate issues in under 60 seconds. The session provided a practical look into how experimentation and testing can become faster and more accessible, reducing friction in development processes.

Talk 3: Security in Practice

Security remains a cornerstone of the web ecosystem. Abdullah Nasir shared real-world case studies from his experience as an ethical hacker.

His session emphasized the importance of integrating security into everyday workflows rather than treating it as an afterthought. From understanding vulnerabilities to preventing hacking attempts, the insights reinforced the need for proactive practices in safeguarding online identities.

The Power of Networking

Beyond the talks, networking remained at the heart of the meetup. Conversations flowed naturally, ideas were exchanged, and new connections were formed.

We closed the session by leaving attendees with two simple but meaningful questions to spark deeper conversations:

  • What keeps you motivated to get to work every morning?
  • What are your short-term goals?

These questions extend beyond the meetup. They are equally relevant to anyone reading this.

Getting started with WordPress child theme

These slides cover basic guide to create WordPress Child Theme and presented in WordPress Islamabad-Rawalpindi meetup.

WordPress child theme enable us to inherit all the functionality and UI/UX of a theme and modify according to business need without editing source files of theme. Any update in original theme will not effect the changes made using Child Theme. The purpose is to bridge the gaps in local community and help WordPress beginners.
